I wish it would be halloween all the time! The food is so good and so are the smiles!

People are so fun and friendly. They are more outgoing and it’s fun to go out when people are hiding behind a costume!

According to several resources, in Naples, Italy the holiday of Halloween is typically observed with Ossa dei Morti on the tables for every household.

Every place has it’s own customs.

Ossa dei Morti is actually a baked cake that is specially prepared for the occasion.  It is also known throughout Naples as the Beans of the Dead, so called for the fact that the cake is shaped like that of the beans.

Along with the preparation of the Beans of the Dead, the people in Naples, Italy also prepare a feast not just for them to partake, but also for the souls of the departed.  This feast is often prepared on the All Soul’s Day, which you may consider as part of the Naples, Italy Halloween.  During this event, it is typical for every family in the city of Naples to set a table filled with bountiful meals.  After the table preparation, families would visit the church for one particular purpose – to pray for the souls of their relatives who have already departed.

The Renaissance era was an era of new discoveries of many interests and ideas. One of these novelties included the new dress style. This style was splendorous and big and today it can be a great option as a child renaissance costume.

There are many styles that were used during this period all ranging from the noble king to a humble peasant. Kids can enjoy the variety of looks and decide on knights, kings, maidens, princesses, and value the style of dressing of that time and age.

Some styles where so puffy from the shoulder sleeves to the bottom of the legs, other styles included too much layering and feathered headpieces to long thick stockings for men. The ladies dress was most described as funnel-looking as were the sleeves which started out wide and tightened at the cuff. Peasant ladies wore cotes and handkerchiefs around the neck.

The styles and characters are many. A child renaissance costume is awesome to wear for medieval functions and castle-like restaurants where jousting, professional sword fighting, along with other activities takes place. Your kid can enjoy wearing his or her costume that involves great events like and are a great family activity as well.

Candy Apples

Furthermore, food historians generally agree that the existence of what we currently call candy apples and caramel (toffee) apples probably date to the late 19th century, although this is difficult to prove in print. Both toffee and caramel are traced to the early decades of the 18th century. Inexpensive toffee/caramels became available by the end of the 19th century. Culinary evidence confirms a variety of recipes, from simple candy to creamy toffee/caramel coating.

The Oxford English Dictionary gives on quotations relating to toffee apples earlier than the beginning of the 20th century. However, the use of the term as a soldier’s slang for a type of bomb used in World War I suggests that they were already well known, and probably have a longer history than the quotations allow.

In the phrase toffee apple the word toffee means simple boiled sugar, not the mixture of sugar and dairy produce which is what the word normally refers to. This may be another indication of an older origin. There is some similarity between toffee apples and the Chinese dessert items which consist of pieces of banana or apple fried in batter and then coated in caramelized syrup. Whether there is any historical connection is not clear.

In order to make candy apples, first, you need to remove stem from each apple. Wash and dry each apple. Insert wooden stir stick for holding in the center of stem end then set them aside. Now you are going to grease a baking sheet, then set this aside for later as well.

There is a benefit to have online Christmas gift catalog with sisal area rugs selections, however. It does save on cutting down trees, and you don’t have to worry about throwing them out when the holidays are over. If you did get a huge catalog from each place where you loved to shop, you could end up with quite a heavy stack of them by the time the holidays have passed. However, if you really want them, they do still make them, it might just be harder for you to get your hands on one.

If you don’t want to bother, you can see how they have changed the Christmas gift catalog in a way that does reflect the changes in time. For the most part, you can find the same selection of hand tufted wool rugs, clothing and toys on each store’s website. This is a great way to see what is out there, and to allow your children to give you some ideas about what they might like to have under the tree. However, for me, that is just not the same. There was just something magical about that catalog, and I always thought my children would do the same thing and my brother and I did.
