The Statue of Liberty Crown Tour is available daily, except if weather or other conditions make it unsafe (more evidence that this is as much a physical exercise as an intellectual one).  One other interpretation of the meaning behind the Statue of Liberty crown is one of enlightenment.

Liberty

Liberty Enlightening the World was a gift from France to the United States in 1886, celebrating the centennial of the United States and to act as a symbol of unity and friendship between the two countries.  “I feel the Statue of Liberty represents global unity, a sign that our world must unify,” said Barbara McLean, 57, of Atlanta.  The crown in the company of its seven rays, each representative of one of the seven continents, the seven seas and mirroring the seven letters found in the words America and Liberty, is a treasured symbol to all those who have been inspired by her and helped to pay for her.

Crown

Only 30 visitors an hour will be allowed to visit the crown, and they will be brought up in groups of 10, guided by a park ranger.  All crown visitors must be able to climb up and down the 354 steps unassisted.  The climb is strenuous and not without risk, and the National Park Service recommends that crown visitors have no significant physical or mental conditions that would impair their ability to complete it, including, but not limited to: heart and respiratory conditions, mobility impairments, claustrophobia (fear of confined spaces), acrophobia (fear of heights) or vertigo (dizziness).

Statue

Statue of Liberty invites visitors to her Crown Only 240 visitors a day can make the arduous climb up the double helix to the Statue of Liberty’s Crown.  Statue of Liberty will open for the public again on July 4th.

For some, the spikes, being the topmost part of the Statue of Liberty crown that points upward, represents the importance for the whole United States of America to always seek the help and guidance of the Heavenly Creator, which is the Christian God.
