When I was a kid, I love loved loved Halloween! I couldn’t wait until it was time to put on my costume and start trick or treating. I was the youngest of six kids, and the older ones didn’t want to go with me. I ended up going with my brother who was only a year older than me, and let me tell ya, that boy was wild!

One year, it got cold early, and I had picked out a Tinkerbell costume. I kept praying it wouldn’t be too cold, but Halloween night came and we had twelve inches of snow. But I was determined to wear my little fairy costume, so I put on a coat. Well, I didn’t trick or treat for long. At every house I went to, they wanted to see my costume, so I had to take off my gloves and then un-zipper my coat, take it off and twirl around. The next year we moved to Phoenix. Thank God

If you just use your imagination you can get a great deal of inspiration from looking around and comparing the different forms that fairies come in. Tinkerbelle is quite well-known with her green and sparkly look, short hairstyle, fairy wand, and dust — which she sprinkles over everything! Before the start of the fireworks every evening, a live actress playing Tinkerbelle emerges from either a castle or a mountain at both Disney properties, and using a zip line — flies down to her destination! You can hear the audible oohs and ahs from the crowd watching her.

Halloween is a fun holiday for many reasons, the kids get to dress up and get candy, mom and dad get the pleasure of decorating the yard to scare the pants off of the kids that come to the door, it’s a festive time all around. These are all great things to do on Halloween but one of the best has always been designing and making your costume. This is always fun for mom and dad as well as the kids.

The best part of designing and making your own costume is that by doing so you will not be dressed like every other kid out there that went to Walmart and bought their costume. These can be made from things you more than likely already have or it may require you to spend a few dollars but over all its not expensive at all. You are going to need a mask cut out or a half mask from your local craft store, some paper, either construction or scrap paper. Some paint, and the best part, some leaves that have just fallen off of your trees. This is the fun part where you and the kids get to go gather some interesting looking leaves and use them in your costume.

You have two options, you can use the leaves as they are or you can make imprints of them, or both. Using them as they are paste them to the paper to give them some a bit of firmness and then cut them out and glue them to the mask in any arrangement you with. Then you and your child can match it to any kids fairy costume.

Or use some colourful paint and paint one side of the leaf and then press it to the paper in order to make an imprint. Let this dry and then cut it out and glue them to the mask in whatever arrangement you wish. Not only is this activity fun to do it will add some flair and color to your costume and make it rather unique.

Fairy child costume choices come in a wider variety than even a couple of years ago. Tinkerbell is probably one of the most widely sought after Halloween costume for little girls, and her friends from recently released videos have been favorites for a while.

Fairy outfits sparkle and shine and come in many colors for playing dress up and going trick or treat. The wings are important parts of the costume, but care should be taken when choosing the right size. They can actually get in the way if they are too big for the child or adult wearer.
