Tinkerbell Costume
I bet you know a little tempermental tinker that might bring this Tinkerbell costume to life! It’s only in this cute-as-can-be Tinkerbell Costume that one could get away with a temper-tantrum. It’s said that due to the small size of fairies, they can only hold one feeling at a time, and therefore they have no compassion to level out the anger or jealousy they sometimes feel. We’ve certainly seen Tinkerbell’s “green” side around Wendy, from Peter Pan, haven’t we?
The most appropriate green color and leaf pattern on the skirt of this Tinkerbell costume are fashioned after the enchanted gardens of Pixie Hollow, where Tinkerbell and her spirited little sprite friends hail.
The wings are an integral part of this Tinkerbell Costume as they will be used to help Tink fly the Lost Boys to Neverland. As she sprinkles them with pixie dust and bids them to think happy thoughts they will take flight along her side. Remember that fairies can’t fly in the rain though!
Tinkerbell was first created by J.M. Barrie in his 1904 play and 1911 novel named Peter and Wendy. She was brought to life in the animated Disney film Peter Pan in 1953.
It’s said that most fairies are born from a baby’s sneeze and Tinkerbell is no different.
There are several different fairies, their origins much debated. Many old tales of ‘ore teach us not to bother the fairies because their response might be spiteful actions toward you. You must also do your work. If you’re house is not clean enough, the fairies may come to remind you in the middle of the night with a little pinch.
In Tinkerbell’s original appearances she’s had no dialogue but became the Disney Hostess at the beginning of all the movies and films. She’s depicted as a twinkling trail of pixie dust flying around the Magic Castle which kicks off the show. Sometimes her voice is heard as the sound of a bell, but her language is understood only by other fairies.
Tinkerbell, or Tink, for short, certainly found a voice in her namesake film, Tinkerbell in 2008. In this very cool direct to DVD Disney film, Tink is a digitally generated 3D character in Pixie Hollow who finds her purpose as a “Tinker Fairy” to be less important than the other nature fairies’ jobs.
It’s the other fairies’ jobs to bring seasons to Pixie Hollow, while her job is simply to tinker with things. She tries to help her friends at their jobs; trying to light fireflies with Iridessa, to make dewdrops with Silvermist, and to teach baby birds to fly with Fawn. She tries to find her own nature fairy niche, but fails, and creates a big mess. It’s only when she’s true to herself that she succeeds and saves the seasons for everyone in Pixie Hollow.
Look for Tinkerbell in her appearance in another movie this fall, 2011. She once again joins her friends in Pixie Hollow Games. In this film we’re introduced to another of Tinkerbell’s exciting fairy friends Chloe.
So pay tribute to the most famed fairy and only fairy to receive a Hollywood Star this Halloween in this Adorable Tinkerbell Costume!
